Risks of Continuing with Treatment
|
What are the risks of continuing with life-prolonging treatment? You may be presented with several problems if you choose to continue aggressive treatment. If you and your loved ones do not communicate clearly with your physician, you may receive medical treatments that do not comply with your wishes, in the event you can not communicate your wishes. If you choose our hospice care, your personal wishes are communicated and discussed and communicated clearly to your loves ones and health professionals. While aggressive treatment remains focused on prolonging your life, you may miss opportunities to enjoy valuable time with family and friends due to your treatments that take up most of your energy. Also, negative side effects may occur from this treatment. This can interfere with your quality of life and your ability to spend time with ones you love. You may not be able to find the quality of care, support services, and financial resources for you and your family as easily as you would with our hospice care. For example, you may not be eligible for programs included in the Medicare Hospice Benefit or respite care, which gives family members a break that routinely care for you at home. |
