It’s a lot like applying for any job.
- Complete a Volunteer Application: Include your resume and a list of references.
- Meet with the Volunteer Coordinator to review:
- Why you want to be a volunteer
- Your interests (finding a good match between volunteers and patients is important)
- What times you are available
- Your experience with the dying process (if you have recently lost a loved one, you may be encouraged to wait a while before volunteering)
- Attend training:
- You will be introduced to Hospice; the philosophy and our program
- You will view videos
- You will complete all necessary paperwork
- At the end of the training, you will talk with the Volunteer Coordinator:
- Together you will decide if volunteer work is something you are ready for and truly want to do.
