How do I become a hospice volunteer?
hospice services

It’s a lot like applying for any job.

  1. Complete a Volunteer Application: Include your resume and a list of references.
  2. Meet with the Volunteer Coordinator to review:
    • Why you want to be a volunteer
    • Your interests (finding a good match between volunteers and patients is important)
    • What times you are available
    • Your experience with the dying process (if you have recently lost a loved one, you may be encouraged to wait a while before volunteering)
  3. Attend training:
    • You will be introduced to Hospice; the philosophy and our program
    • You will view videos
    • You will complete all necessary paperwork
  4. At the end of the training, you will talk with the Volunteer Coordinator:
    • Together you will decide if volunteer work is something you are ready for and truly want to do.
